The Celebration of Excellence is an annual reception to honor the Heartland Community College Foundation scholarship recipients and their commitment to academic achievement. Business and community leaders from district 540 were among the 160 attendees of the 2007 HCC scholarship reception.

Bloomington Rotary Club scholarship recipient Heather Johnson was the keynote speaker at the 2007 Celebration of Excellence. Heather gave a heart-warming speech to the audience about the obstacles she has overcome and thanked Heartland for the opportunity to improve herself and her family by offering not only quality education, but encouragement and support. Heather graduates from HCC in spring 2008 with and associate's degree and will enroll in classes at Eureka College in the fall.

The 2008 Celebration of Excellence is scheduled for October 23.
