Scholarship Scramble golfer
The Heartland Community College Foundation hosted its 16th Annual Scholarship Scramble at the Den at Fox Creek on June 19th. The golf outing is one of the larger fundraising opportunities for the Foundation. This year the event raised over $25,000 to provide funding for various scholarships at Heartland.
Lunch was provided by Schnuck's before 26 foursomes teed off. After enjoying 18 holes in perfect weather, golfers returned to the Den's clubhouse for a steak dinner prepared by Times Past Inn. Dinner was followed by drawing the winners of the nine raffle prizes and a live auction of two round trip AirTran tickets to anywhere in the continental United States.
Several teams donated an extra $40 to Sponsor-a-Student. The scholarship recipient sponsored by the foursome that finished first received a book stipend for the 2008 fall semester. Scholarship recipients were eligible by volunteering at the golf outing the day of the event. Congratulations to Shelly Weidenbenner Scholarship recipient Krista Shepherd! The team that sponsored Krista finished first and she received a book stipend for $130 at Follett Book Store on Heartland's campus.
Thanks again to the golfers, sponsors, volunteers and the Den at Fox Creek for another fun and successful event!
